Understanding Power and Authority

Invariably we reach a point on our path where we need to accept, or open to, power.  This is because we are all part of the Divine and the Divine is, of course, powerful.  We cannot become who We Truly Are without becoming powerful.

That, howevFractal2er, is the difficulty for many of us.  So many of us have experienced the negative side of power so that we believe that power is having ‘power over’ another, and we are naturally uncomfortable with that.  We instinctively know that having power over another Being carries with it considerable risk; risk to the other, than we will negatively impact their integrity, and risk to ourselves, that we will step off our path if we become distracted by the effects of power.

Yet if we are to become who We Truly Are we need to become powerful.  So what are we to do?

Understanding wisdom helps.  Wisdom is knowing how and when to use power in order to have a constructive rather than a destructive outcome.  At least with wisdom we know we aren’t harming the other.  Yet even with wisdom power can be a burden.

Understanding the true nature of Authority overcomes this issue.

Let’s coFractal5nsider that power flows, like all else, from the creative flow of the Universe.  Each of us, whether we are conscious of it or not, directs that flow in order to create our lives and all the things we do and create within it.  Exactly how we direct that flow determines whether or not doing so will add to our integrity, and self-connection, or will distract us from it.

Consider for a moment that we all have a different fractal pattern. For example, there are three different ones in this post.

Now imagine if the creative flow of the Universe was flowing through each one. It’s easy to see how the creative flow would come through with a different alignment.  It is this aligned power which is what our Authority is.

If we attempt to expand our power with an alignment which is not ours, then we will limit how much power we allFractal4ow through.  It is this lack of inherent alignment which has the effect of corrupting our own system.

When we allow our power to flow through with inherent alignment to our integrity, it then holds within it the natural expression of our essence.  This is what we call Authority.  It also enables us to open to the power of our Divine self without resistance, because all we are doing is fulfilling whatever is our function within Universe, as we were meant to do.

So it isn’t true that power corrupts, unless it’s not aligned to our integrity.  That is, power without true Authority corrupts; but power that comes from Authority builds our integrity, as well as the world around us.
